Artist's Description
A small, rustic church with a cross-topped bell tower stands under a bright blue sky with scattered clouds. The church, set amidst an open, arid landscape, has a simple walkway leading to its entrance. While exploring backroads in New Mexico, I discovered this old church. According to a sign near the church "Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, New Church Built 1914". This church is in the small community of Galleos, New Mexico.
Small-town churches, country churches, and adobe churches all have an allure to me. I'm attracted to them and when it is safe, I'll stop and explore these gems of history.
About Patrick Steger
I began my photographic journey in 1972 with a 35mm SLR camera. I learned quickly that I could control the way an image looked and make it look much better than most amateur photographers. Over the following decades, my interest in photography grew as I pursued a career in the high tech industry. Over the years I was encouraged by many friends to turn my "hobby" into a profession. It wasn't until 2002 that I took action and began my professional photography career on a part time basis. From 2002 through 2014 I learned and grew a LOT!
