A longhorn cow stands near an old, rustic stone building with weathered wooden doors. The surrounding area features green grass, trees, and signs of the countryside. I found this magnificent longhorn as I drove a country road near Inks Lake State Park. He stood as if to guard the old stone building. I imagined that the stone building had once been someone's home, now left to the elements. The Texas Longhorn cattle are an iconic breed known for their distinctive, wide-reaching horns that can span up to seven feet from tip to tip. Originating from Spanish cattle brought to the Americas in the late 1400s, these hardy animals adapted to the rugged landscapes of Texas, where they thrived in the wild for centuries. Renowned for their resilience, Texas Longhorns can endure harsh climates and survive on sparse forage, making them well-suited to the diverse terrains of the American Southwest. About Patrick Steger
I began my photographic journey in 1972 with a 35mm SLR camera. I learned quickly that I could control the way an image looked and make it look much better than most amateur photographers. Over the following decades, my interest in photography grew as I pursued a career in the high tech industry. Over the years I was encouraged by many friends to turn my "hobby" into a profession. It wasn't until 2002 that I took action and began my professional photography career on a part time basis. From 2002 through 2014 I learned and grew a LOT!
