Description
A longhorn steer stands in front of a rustic, old stone building with weathered wooden doors. The scene is set in a lush, wooded area with trees and greenery. This longhorn had me captivated for a good while, as he let me walk around finding the best perspective for photographing him. He was a great model for me and responded to my posing ques (haha). The Texas Longhorn cattle are an iconic breed known for their distinctive, wide-reaching horns that can span up to seven feet from tip to tip. Originating from Spanish cattle brought to the Americas in the late 1400s, these hardy animals adapted to the rugged landscapes of Texas, where they thrived in the wild for centuries. Renowned for their resilience, Texas Longhorns can endure harsh climates and survive on sparse forage, making them well-suited to the diverse terrains of the American Southwest. Their unique genetic makeup has contributed to their disease resistance and longevity. Beyond their practical advantages, Texas Longhorns are celebrated symbols of the Old West, embodying the spirit of independence and endurance that characterizes much of American history.
This and other longhorns were close to a country road I was exploring. In this image, he stands as if to guard the old stone building. I imagined that the old stone building was once someone's home and now the longhorn wants to make sure no one trespasses.
I printed this on metal and it looks so good.
