A longhorn steer stands in front of a rustic, old stone building with weathered wooden doors. The scene is set in a lush, wooded area with trees and greenery. This longhorn had me captivated for a good while, as he let me walk around finding the best perspective for photographing him. He was a great model for me and responded to my posing ques (haha). The Texas Longhorn cattle are an iconic breed known for their distinctive, wide-reaching horns that can span up to seven feet from tip to tip. Originating from Spanish cattle brought to the Americas in the late 1400s, these hardy animals adapted to the rugged landscapes of Texas, where they thrived in the wild for centuries. I began my photographic journey in 1972 with a 35mm SLR camera. I learned quickly that I could control the way an image looked and make it look much better than most amateur photographers. Over the following decades, my interest in photography grew as I pursued a career in the high tech industry. Over the years I was encouraged by many friends to turn my "hobby" into a profession. It wasn't until 2002 that I took action and began my professional photography career on a part time basis. From 2002 through 2014 I learned and grew a LOT!
